A Real Surf Adventure awaits.......
The surf on Sumatra’s southern coast has something for everyone. From gromets to seasoned pros. From reef breaks to beachies Krui’s surf region has a wide & varied array of World Class waves & our place is within easy reach of them all. The main surf season runs from April-November when the roaring forties send plenty of 6-12ft swells through April-November is our High Season. The off-season ( Mid-November-Late March ) is rarely flat because of the Southern Ocean’s ability to produce constant swells in the 2-6ft range and the point has awesome waves even when its smaller.
The SSW swell direction is ideal for our coastal area. Cross-shore afternoon winds are common as Lampung means “place of the southerly winds” but the inside reef stays clean. The SE trade-season starts in May with mild winds getting stronger towards the end of the season in October. NW winds dominate the rest of the year.

Right on your front doorstep this world class lefthander varies in scope from heavy dredging barrels to long carveable down the line very fast walls with rides well in excess of 200 meters. Ujung Bocur is extremely consistent and can handle large swells. In addition, the sheer length of the wave spreads out almost any crowd and many different take off spots give opportunity to surf to your level. Best barrels right out at the point and the last section can be ideal for beginners on the smaller days.
Besides the left out front, you can choose from barreling lefts & rights, softer reef breaks as well as endless beach breaks. We can organize transport for easy access to many other world class waves in the area. Check out our shortlist below:
Mandiri beach is about 20 minutes north of our surf camp and is a famous stretch of open beach called Mandiri, Best early morning as it can be wind affected later in the day. These banks can be awesome on their day and often there is a good choice of peaks.
Just 20 minutes up the road and you are in the township of Krui, which has a variety of reef breaks, particularly good when the swell starts getting bigger. The main breaks in Krui are "The Peak" and Krui Left and Krui Right. All are beautiful fun waves when the swell is getting bigger and the beach here is great for a swim to cool off.
This beautiful island is accessible only by boat, with a quality right hander on one side and a screaming left on the other. Not many people surf out there and if there is a good swell running and your adventure streak is high it could reward you with incredibly remarkable waves! The right can be very fast so best to get it at mid to high tide.
Jenny’s right is a great right hand point break which can be offshore over the wet season when the winds are north west. It´s a fun right hand reef break running for 100 meters, with a couple of fast barrel sections that work on all tides. Common for this spot to have very light winds in early mornings so great to get there at first light.
Honey Smacks is a barreling left hander very popular with the body boarders just in between jenny´s and Jimmy´s.
Jimmy’s Right and Jimmy´s Left
These can be pretty serious waves so if you get lucky with all the right conditions you’re guaranteed to come back happy and sure to have lifetime memories of the most perfect indo surf experience. these spots hold big swell and produce epic barrels.
Heading south from the camp also offers a variety of waves, the first and most famous being Way Jambu. It is one of the heaviest left-hander barrels, hence it’s nick name “Sumatran Pipeline”. This ruler edged, spitting beast is truly a word class wave. Low tide can be a scary take off with the water sucking off the reef just in front of you. Don’t look, just go and you’ll either get smashed or get the barrel of your life.
